Stennis Staff Receive Awards
Two Stennis Staffers have received awards for their work in their perspective fields. Rachael Carter is the winner of the 2012 Southern Rural Sociological Associations Excellence in Extension Award for significant contributions in community development. Lydia Quarles was also recognized by the American Society of Public Administration's Section for Women in Public Administration with the Joan Fiss Bishop Award which recognizes work to increase the number of women in public administration and the public sector and leadership and professionalism in their career.

Mississippi Community Action Project
The Stennis Institute was awarded a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to conduct a two year pilot program to provide training to communities to increase their participation and success in the planning, decision-making, and leadership processes. This program will incorporate components of First Impressions, YourTown, Mississippi and Selected to Serve programs. The marketing, recruitment and selection of participating communities will begin soon. read more
