The Dean Frances N. Coleman Research and Writing Award is given every year to one student who presents an exemplary paper based on research conducted at the MSU Libraries’ Congressional & Political Research Center. Named in honor of Dean Frances Coleman of Mitchell Memorial Library, this essay competition is designed to make students aware of the wonderful resources that Mississippi State Students have at their disposal.
Topics for the paper are chosen each year and relate either to Senator John C. Stennis or Congressman G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery . Congressional research papers must be completed and submitted by the end of November and the winner will be announced on the annual D.C. trip in the spring. The award is sponsored by Spruill Property Management, LLC
